In this article we will explain how to migrate and already existent MnDB MyData or Group server installation to a different machine.
Assuming you have your current MnDB server running in machineA and you want to migrate it to a new host, machineB:
- Install MnDB-Group or MyData- on server machineB.
- Follow the standard installation procedure.
- Make sure you place your license file into the MnDB MnServer directory.
- Test that connection from Mnova to machineB works.
- Announce a short service outage.
- Shut down server on machineA, to prevent data loss —stop Windows service ‘Mestrelab MnDB-Group MnServer’ or ‘Mestrelab MnDB-MyData MnServer’—.
- Shut down server on machineB —stop Windows service ‘Mestrelab MnDB-Group MnServer’ or ‘Mestrelab MnDB-MyData MnServer’—.
- On machineB, rename the directory MnDB\MnServer\db1 to, for example, MnDB\MnServer\db1-ORIG.
- Copy the directory MnDB\MnServer\db1 from machineA to machineB.
- Start the Windows service on machineB.
- Check the connection is working again from Mnova and the data was migrated.
- Announce that service is restored, with the new server address machineB —if the server change implies an address or hostname change—.
