Set the HostID Type for Mestrelab License Server

To configure the HostIDType to use the Mestrelab License Server method, follow the steps below.
This procedure requires administrator privileges.

1. Create the Registry Entry

  1. Open Notepad.
  2. Paste the following content:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mestrelab Research S.L.\MLicServer\License]

    "HostIDType"=dword:00000000

  3. Save the file as SetHostIDType.reg.
  4. Right‑click the .reg file and select Run as administrator.
  5. Confirm the UAC prompt and allow the registry update.

 

Alternatively, you may add the key manually via regedit:

  1. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mestrelab Research S.L.\MLicServer
  3. Create the License key if it does not exist.
  4. Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named HostIDType into the License key .
  5. Set its value to 0.

2. Restart the Mestrelab License Server Service

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Locate the service Mestrelab License Server.
  3. Right‑click it and select Restart.

If the service is not running, select Start instead.
